Fine tessellation follows the CAD surfaces closely and is the right default. Fast is a coarser mesh for a large assembly that will not open. Quality applies when the file is opened, so changing it reopens the model.

Advanced settings

Section

Use + Current view to save a section as an extra figure. A section should clarify exterior contours, not internal mechanics.

Broken lines

Broken lines are capped at the solid outline weight. Explain their purpose in the specification.

Assembly position

Move or rotate the selected source part, then add a separate figure. Values are relative to the model width, not millimeters.

Exploded views need an assembled view and an association bracket. Alternate positions belong in separate figures.

Performance

Geometry loads once. Each image renders locally.

Figure set

Use enough views to disclose the appearance. Seven is a starting set, not a USPTO requirement. This workspace supports up to 40 figures.

Choose a view to edit its description or inclusion. Move changes the figure order and linked reference numbers. Replacing a camera clears that figure's annotations.

Add the current view

Saves this camera, zoom, section and assembly position. Model alignment and claim selections stay consistent across the set.

Select surface regions

Works with single-mesh models. Regions stay attached across views without changing the source CAD.

The brush is a 3D sphere and may touch nearby back surfaces. Boxes extend through the model; use assembled position. Hidden edges stay hidden. Later regions override earlier ones. Oblique shading does not make material transparent.

Drawing sheets

Portrait sheets, 25 mm top/left, 15 mm right and at least 10 mm bottom margins. PDF labels have at least 3.2 mm capital height. PDF artwork is raster; labels and annotations are vector. Inspect every sheet at filing size.
